Educurious invites educators to apply for a unique professional development opportunity. This workshop will be facilitated entirely online. Educurious will share our newly developed unit Kể Chuyện: Vietnamese American Experiences. Students will draw on the vast primary source materials of the Library of Congress to explore Vietnamese American stories.

Students begin this unit by exploring the theme of humanity and community through a discussion of the many factors that influence the development of personal identities. The students learn the stories of Vietnamese Americans who experienced displacement and resettlement after the fall of Saigon in the 1970s. Students listen to oral histories in order to respond to the unit driving question – What can the experiences of displaced people teach us about community, recovery, and humanity? Throughout this unit students draw on what they are learning to create a podcast that explores the responsibilities of individuals and communities in order to stand in solidarity with people facing displacement and resettlement.
