Educurious is inviting educators to apply for a unique professional development opportunity. This workshop will be facilitated entirely online. Educurious will be sharing our newly developed unit Reporting on Reconstruction’s Legacy. The unit leverages the vast Library of Congress primary source material to uncover the untold stories of Reconstruction and its legacy. Using the tenets of investigative reporting students seek to understand the achievements and challenges of the era, then work to shine a light on the possibilities of racial equity today. Educurious will be providing a complete PBL unit with lesson plans, primary sources, and a set of investigative tools and organizers teachers can use to analyze images, texts, documentaries, and interviews.
Professional Learning Objectives
- Develop PBL teaching practices and prepare to teach Reporting on Reconstruction’s Legacy.
- Deepen understanding of the characteristics of high-quality, rigorous project-based learning.
- Build a network of educators to collaborate with and learn from.
- Learn strategies for finding and engaging with primary sources.
