Earth Processes

How can we use clues to solve a geological mystery?

Students create “geocake” models to tell a geological story. Using their understanding of geologic formations and the cycling of matter, students hold a geology bakeoff and review in which they describe the story behind each other’s cakes and critique others’ interpretation of their own.

Key content: earth processes, cycling of matter, water and rock cycles, scientific modeling

"I started off the year kind of messing around, not paying attention. Then I saw that I was the only one so I started to try and I was pretty excited about how much I could do in this class."
